Please Stop Feeding the Wolves

Once again here I am at my keyboard attempting to respond to another hot button.  Since its been a bit over a year since my last post, thankfully my hot button isn’t being pushed very often!  But this time — its a biggie.

I have been seeing various posts all over Facebook here recently that seems to be pushing  a new Gospel.  You may or may not be familiar with this new Gospel.  Its often referred to as the ‘post-modern church’ or ‘the emergent church’ or simply ‘progressive Christianity’.  In a nutshell it is a teaching that promotes love at the expense of God’s Holiness.  Now I am all about love (I Cor. 13 is a good place to start on this topic).  And I am all about compassion and mercy, BUT, not at the expense of sacrificing God’s holiness on the altar of political correctness.

You will recognize the advocates of this new type of Gospel because they will adopt every socially and politically liberal position you can come up with:  Pro-choice, the promotion of the LGBT agenda, the promotion of climate change, they love Obamacare, they push social-justice issues, and so on.  And they will generally refuse to use Scripture (unless it is to twist its clear meaning in the original text in order to promote a specific agenda) — Rather they often outright refute Scripture, ignore it, or in rare moments of honesty downright admit to you that they don’t believe Scripture at all! They will deny the authority of Scripture thereby raising themselves up as the new authority for the church.

Do you see them? They are all around and increasing in number. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing, claiming to know and follow Christ, when all they are really doing is following a retooled, mythical Jesus to suit their desires. It’s time for the faithful to stand up and speak out, to follow the biblical Jesus like never before. – godfactor.com

You will also recognize them because in spite of all of their self-proclaimed love and tolerance mantra they viciously attack bible believing churches as being homophobic and bigoted. The 2,000 year old Doctrine of Hell and substitutionary atonement has been replaced by a feel-good experience based faith where Hell has no place in their theology, or for that matter believe even exists. Those who reinforce the traditional Doctrine of Hell and the need for substitutionary atonement are proclaimed false teachers in their view. They say:

“However, in the twenty-first century, the idea of substitutionary atonement has become questionable, at best, and grotesque, at worst. Surely a loving God did not require the shed blood of a human sacrifice as a prerequisite for our salvation. If we also deny the idea of original sin, then there was no reason for substitutionary atonement.” – Progressive Christianity.org

I would beg to differ. Preaching the denial of the Doctrine of original sin and denying the Doctrine of Christ’s substitutionary atonement is a different Gospel. It is their teaching that is false and has been since Paul wrote Galatians 1:9, “As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!”

You will recognize these self-styled “Christians” by:

  1. They often adapt to our politically correct culture by refusing to admonish sin by staying silent on these tough issues. They will downplay God’s truth on the subject by promoting the illusion that apathy and neutrality was what Jesus did.
  2. They will pick and choose, sort of like a buffet, which Scripture is relevant, and which are to be ignored based on what our politically correct culture deems important at the time. They will focus on the ‘nice, loving’ parts of the Gospel message, while simultaneously and intentionally minimizing sin, hell, and the need for repentance and transformation.
  3. They often embrace and promote the ‘social-justice’ Gospel instead of the real Gospel of I Corinthians 15:3-4. They confuse caring for the poor with advancing socialist or big government systems while demonizing those who advocate a free-market system, or heaven forbid, original sin and substitutionary atonement.  They confuse God’s Kingdom which is not of this world, with the world’s kingdoms.

This is serious stuff folks. This new brand of Christianity’s susceptibility to a ‘feel-good’ doctrine is playing a big role in America’s moral decline. This new Gospel depends on how we feel, rather than whether something is biblical or not. Old teachings that focused on God’s transformation power through repentance, are replaced with teachings that promote twisted views of justice, oppression and inequality so that they will ‘feel’ more neutral and less confrontational. Out of fear that they may be viewed by the lost as ‘intolerant’  many people are buying into these theological falsehoods.

This contemporary mindset is what Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German theologian whose Christian convictions put him at odds with the Nazis and cost him his life, called “cheap grace.” In his book “The Cost of Discipleship” Bonhoeffer wrote: “Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate.”

What has been a red flag for me with this new movement is their denial of basic biblical doctrines:

  • They deny the inerrancy of Scripture.
  • They deny the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ as God’s judgment for sin.
  • They deny the Doctrine of Hell.
  • They deny that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and instead hold to some sort of wierd collective salvation – all roads lead to God. Note John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.”  That sounds like only one way to me.

What it all boils down to is that many progressive or emergent church Christians are merely cultural Christians. They are not regenerate (born again) believers at all. In fact, they’re hostile to the true gospel. You will realize just how hostile when you seek to refute their error with pointing out Scripture passages. They are wolves who have infiltrated the church.  Matthew 7:15, “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”  Their goal is the redefinition of traditional Christianity. And that my friends is a different Gospel, it is heresy, and it is apostasy. Be warned before embracing this stuff!

Liberal wolves are out there spreading a false gospel of a feel-good social justice Christianity, where Hell is not real, sin may be expressed without condemnation, repentance is not necessary, where God will not judge, and atonement is not necessary. It is what Peter called “damnable heresies” in 2 Peter 2:1–2.  One self-proclaimed progressive Christian blogger who came across my feed is John Pavlovitz. Sad to say he has gained over 65,000 Facebook followers, many of whom claim to be Christians. The shared post was:  http://johnpavlovitz.com/2015/12/01/my-emancipation-from-american-christianity/

Now I don’t want to dump on one individual who shared this post, it was shared without knowledge of this man’s belief system. And honestly my hot button was set off not merely because of this one post, but because I have been seeing and hearing a lot of this type of stuff here lately from everywhere:  Facebook, stuff coming into the office here at Church, family’s being destroyed because one man decides to leave his wife for another woman and feels vindicated in doing so, because after all according to his new theology, God won’t judge his sin, there is now no Hell to be concerned about, and so on ad infinitum.  So I have just reached the point where I have been led to respond and shout out a warning here.

Now back to Mr. Pavlovitz.  I am going to zero in on him and focus on this one post since he just happens to be the latest in my feed to set off my hot button.  Mr. Pavlovitz (I refuse to refer to him as a “Pastor”) made several ridiculous statements in that blog article, some fairly benign and not such a big deal, BUT two were real red flags for me. My discernment alarms didn’t just go off, they detonated like a huge MOAB direct hit. My first alarm went off when Mr. Pavolitz made the claim:

“I’ve outgrown the snarling brimstone preaching that brokers in damnation.” Not surprising since he claims he doesn’t believe in Hell. (See his blog post on this subject:  http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/03/07/no-christian-we-dont-deserve-hell-and-we-probably-neednt-worry-about-it/ ) – Frankly I have never seen such an heretical post as that one!) But unfortunately for Mr. Pavlovitz Jesus taught about Hell’s existence. (See Luke 16:19–31; Matt. 7:13-14; Hebrews 9:27). To ‘outgrow’ a core cardinal doctrine of the Christian faith is apostasy.  Hell is one of the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith. It is a cornerstone. To reject this is serious business.

John Walvoord wrote that when it comes to the doctrine of hell in the Bible, “Jesus himself defined this more specifically and in more instances than any New Testament prophet. All the references to gehenna, except James 3:6, are from the lips of Jesus Christ himself…” [Walvoord, “The Literal View” in William Crockett (ed.), Four Views on Hell (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1992), 19-20.]

C. H. Spurgeon said, “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”

But it gets worse. There is a man named Rob Bell (whom CARM, the Christian Apologetics Research Ministry, has written about. See here and here).  This man’s teaching is dangerous to one’s spiritual health, but yet Mr. Pavolitz defends him. (http://johnpavlovitz.com/2014/12/10/the-continued-crucifying-of-rob-bell-and-what-it-says-about-the-state-of-modern-christianity/)  I would submit that he defends him because he agrees with him. He said in response to Rob Bell’s denial of the doctrine of Hell:

“We’ve made the Church a members-only club, defined by the narrowest of doctrines and the most rigid understandings of God and Scripture…..As Christian leaders cling tighter and tighter to a faith tradition that seems less and less culturally relevant, they expel anyone who doesn’t check all the right boxes, who doesn’t say all the right words in all the right ways using all the right Bible verses.”

If the doctrine of Hell and the Atonement is ‘a narrow faith tradition’ then Pavlovitz is tip toeing across the wide door and the broad way that leads to eternal destruction (Matt. 7:13). This isn’t a simple disagreement over what color the foyer carpet should be, it’s the removal of the chief cornerstone of the Christian faith – Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross so that God’s justice is satisfied. To remove that cornerstone is a departure from the faith – its Apostasy – and it’s a different Gospel (Gal. 1:9; I Cor. 15:3-4).

My second alarm went off when Mr. Pavolitz stated:

“I’ve outgrown the incessant attacks on the Gay, Muslim, and Atheist communities.” – I personally haven’t witnessed any attacks by Christians on Gay, Muslim or Atheist communities other than the sharing of Bible verses which I hardly call an attack since nobody ends up in the hospital, nobody loses their job, nobody got sent to jail, and nobody is killed by sharing a simple bible verse. Verses such as Romans 1:26-28; Jude 1:5-8; I Timothy 1:8-11; I Corinthians 6:9-11; Leviticus 18:2; Leviticus 20:13 referencing God’s Word regarding Homosexuality.  Those verses are in fact warnings actually shared in love, not hate. If Christians hated these groups we wouldn’t be sharing the Gospel! We would sit back, say nothing, and gleefully watch them go to Hell in a hand basket so to speak.  BUT, since we love them and do not wish them to perish we show them what God’s Word says on the subject in the hopes of repentance that may lead to their salvation. Now when we do that, we are branded as homophobes, intolerant, hateful bigots, etc. etc. Now apparently sharing Bible verses is also an incessant attack as well.

Unfortunately this is not my definition of an attack. When I see the word “attack” I automatically think of an act of violence.  Now, I understand the word attack may also mean criticism, non-verbal type arguments, but the context of his statement seems to imply some sort of physical force here.  And frankly, what I have seen from the LGBT movement is the reality that Gays have been utilizing force against Christians on a fairly regular basis here lately from wedding cake vendors to photographers, solely because they refuse on religious grounds to celebrate a gay marriage. You would think the gay customer would just simply find a non-Christian baker, florist or photographer and have done with it, but that is not their goal. They want to destroy these people – and that my friends is my definition of a physical force type of attack. And we’ve all seen these stories ever since the courts ruled on gay marriage so I won’t take up space by linking to article after article. And I have watched these attacks result in jail time for at least one individual, with the loss of businesses and income for others.  Simply for opposing the  LGBT agenda on religious grounds.  In light of all of this, to claim that attacks are merely coming from “Christians” against gays is a bit hypocritical.

OReilly
Too bad Mr. Pavlovitz isn’t more concerned about how Muslims treat gays instead of focusing on how Christians view Homosexuality.  I haven’t seen any Christians lately throwing a Homosexual off the roof of a building, but this is a standard practice within Islam.  There are clear mandates within the Koran and the Hadiths to execute Homosexuals, not share the Gospel with them.  They won’t even take the time to convert them to Allah, they just kill them all.  If I were a Homosexual I would be far more concerned about the violence practiced by Islam, than I would my evangelical neighbor.
cbs
And speaking of Muslims, I haven’t even really been seeing the sharing of Bible verses with them.  I did try a few years ago when I happened to be the sole person sitting in the church office at the time wondering why in the world I would get this call when Pastor was out!  But here comes this call from the local North American Islamic Community Center here in Plainfield wanting PBC to participate in inter-faith activities and so forth.  I very calmly explained to him that we as a church cannot do that as Islam is not compatible with Christianity and our beliefs here at PBC, and then proceeded (a feeble attempt on my part, but I did try!) to give this man the Gospel.  He immediately got angry with me.  He proceeded to tell me that Jesus wasn’t God and never claimed to be God.  I sent him to John 8:58 (Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I Am.”), then I showed him Exodus 3:14 – the “I Am that I Am” section of Scripture where God was conversing with Moses.  Then I sent him to John 10:30 and then onto Hebrews 1:3.  By this time the man was physically threatening me through the phone to the point I just had to hang up.  I still think I am on some sort of terrorist hit list of some sort at this point but there it is.  Who knew being a Church secretary would be a dangerous occupation??

But the reality is, I am really not seeing too much of anyone sharing the Gospel with Muslims pointing out to them the errors of their faith.  What I am seeing appears to be a jump on the bandwagon to appease anything and everything Islam on the part of Progressive Christianity, and I’ve also not seen any sort of violence or physical attacks coming from professing Christians against Muslims outside of the military.  At least not personally.  Not yet anyway.  However, when one is actually fighting for one’s life in the midst of a terrorist attack perhaps there should be!  Yet, I will tell you what I have seen. I have seen a lot of Muslims lately killing and beheading Christians all across the globe – and I honestly can’t remember recently when a Christian beheaded a Muslim. Mr. Pavlovitz is going to have to refresh my memory on that one, because I can’t recall. But I can recall Christians being martyred, article after article after article of the latest terrorist attack and the screaming of Allahu-Akbar in the midst of these attacks, which seem to be occurring on a daily basis!

Once again, Mr. Pavlovitz focused on only one side of the story and ignores the other.  So, I guess Christians being in the crosshairs of ISIS are okay with him, if we dare defend ourselves we’re intolerant bigots! We’re just not supposed to share the Gospel with the above groups – after all – according to Mr. Pavlovitz that’s bigotry and hate.

Now, Mr. Pavlovitz’s support of the LGBT movement has been responded to here so I will not say much more on the subject other than I am not discounting the need to love the gay or the Muslim – quite the contrary. But love doesn’t take a back seat to truth. I Corinthians 13 is clear about the need for love, but it is also clear about the need for truth. (Ephesians 4:15) I could pick apart much of the rest of his blog, and not just this one article, but the many unbiblical and ridiculous articles that he has posted throughout his blog. But those 2 points alone in just that one article should be red flags to any Bible believing Christian. Sad that it isn’t.

The only way he can justify this departure from the true faith is to deny Scripture,  which is what he does on his blog.  Now, notice some of what he says there:

  1. “I don’t believe the Bible was dictated by God”. Contrast that with 2 Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 59:21; Zechariah 7:12; Acts 4:31; Exodus 34:27; Revelation 3:14; Luke 16:31.
  2. “I don’t believe the Bible has much of consequence to say about gender identity and sexual orientation”. Contrast that with I Corinthians 6:9-10 just for starters. Then move on to Romans 1:26-27. (See above list).
  3. “I don’t believe the Bible is without error”. He goes on to say that the Bible “contains” truth but that “it cannot be as pure and pristine as it would need to be to be called perfect”. That sounds to me remarkably similar to the serpent hissing in Eve’s ear: “Has God said….” (Genesis 3:1). Then further contrast with Psalm 18:30; Mark 13:31; I Peter 1:25; Psalm 138:2.
  4. “I don’t believe the Bible is the only source through which we hear or experience God”.  This is direct refutation of Sola Scriptura. Contrast with Proverbs 3:5; Proverbs 28:26; Jeremiah 17:5. Which prompts an immediate question to my mind. If the Bible is not the sole authority then what is? Who is Pavlovitz’ authority? Himself? Its not God or His Word that is abundantly clear.
  5. I don’t believe the Bible is worthy of worship”. Huh? Say what? God’s Word is now not worthy? Really? Isaiah 66:2 begs to differ when it admonishes: “God’s favor is upon the one who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at His Word.”  And perhaps the most egregious:
  6. “I don’t believe the Bible should be used to defend the Bible.” Wow. This man is supposed to be a Pastor. At this point Mr. Pavlovitz has elevated himself above Christ, because you see, Christ thought it important to use Scripture. He quoted Scripture quite a bit in fact. Look at Matthew 21:12-17. His Apostles quoted Scripture again and again. If Mr. Pavlovitz really loved Christ, he would love Scripture, and he would love to quote it, and he would love to use it to defend the faith. Since he proclaims he doesn’t is indeed telling as to his true Spiritual condition. I would submit that he doesn’t want to quote it or use it because it refutes his belief system. He is under Scripture’s condemnation and that is the real reason he won’t have anything to do with it.

In another blog post  Pavlovitz seems to suggest that the idea of referencing Scripture is an unloving and useless endeavor, which definitely reveals his low view of Scripture, if you weren’t convinced already.  And in doing so he is missing the whole point of the Gospel message!  If a person knows he or she is in rebellion against God, the call is to repent. The Gospel truly received transforms – that’s the point. Yes, people should be sincerely loved and embraced BUT the whole Gospel must be proclaimed, even the bad news about the devastation of sin. The utter seriousness of sin is what makes the “Good News” so good! Without repentance there is no salvation, without receiving the whole counsel of God, there can be no repentance. The Scriptures must be proclaimed! The church can only truly reach lost people if the entire Gospel of Jesus is proclaimed to them. They are not “reached” if they are merely made comfortable in their sin. Jesus loved sinners, but he never made sinners comfortable in their sin.

Folks, listen, this man calls himself a Pastor, yet he doesn’t believe the Bible. He doesn’t believe in Hell. He doesn’t believe in the need for substitutionary atonement. He doesn’t believe in the need for repentance. And on and on it goes. Please listen: this is heresy. While he may say some things that make sense or sound good, it is still false teaching. All heretics and false teachers from Marcion to Jim Jones ALWAYS said some things that sounded good. Its how they get their feet in the door to suck you in. Indeed, Satan sounded good when he hissed in Eve’s ear, its what led to the Fall for Pete’s sake. You must be Bereans whenever anyone comes down the road claiming to speak for Christ and the church. (Acts 17:11 – “Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.”) You MUST evaluate everything they say to see if it conforms to the Scriptures — if it doesn’t they are to be REJECTED. We are to rebuke false teaching:

“..holding fast the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict.”- Titus 1:9

“Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward. 9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting; 11 for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds.” – II John 8-11

Nothing they teach should be spread or ‘shared’. To do so makes you an accessory to their false teaching. Think about it.  You might be firm in the faith and be able to recognize some good things among the bad, but not everyone who sees your posts is going to be in the same boat.  They may not even be believers and thus easily swayed as they click on these links.  They will see your shared post, think the site is a good one because you shared it, then read some of the other ungodly things these men teach and fall into these false teachings.  We have to protect the sheep, not feed the wolves!

“When men are living in sin they go from bad to worse. At first they merely walk in the counsel of the careless and ungodly, who forget God – the evil is rather practical than habitual – but after that, they become habituated to evil, and they stand in the way of open sinners who willfully violate God’s commandments, and if let alone, they go one step further, and become themselves pestilent teachers and tempters of others, and thus they sit in the seat of the scornful.” – Charles H. Spurgeon

Now there are many more progressive or emergent church Christians other than John Pavlovitz, such as Beth Moore, and Joyce Meyer to name a few. But they all are consistent with their false teaching. Leftist emergent Christians continue to lift up those who have departed from truth because they want to be seen as loving, and they want the rest of us to pipe down and not confront sin. We Scripture quoters and admonishers are seen as intolerant bigots. These are people who love their sin and are comfortable in their sin, and they do not want to be refuted. Jesus did warn us about these people when He said, “and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil”, John 3:19.  Another caution, we are also warned that these types of behaviors are indicative of the last days –  “…holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as these.” 2 Timothy 3:5so we should not be surprised to see this apostasy growing.  But we should be defending against it!

Does this mean that we are to only preach hell and brimstone without love and never show compassion or mercy? God forbid! May it never be so. I am not advocating that we all become members of the Westboro Baptist Church. The truth is in the middle as it usually is. God is compassionate, He is loving, and He is merciful — but He is also HOLY. Those attributes cannot be separated out from each other. And His message cannot be separated. Those who preach only damnation without love are just as guilty as those who preach nothing but love without the need for repentance. God is both. As we say here in the Midwest, “You catch more flies with honey than vinegar”, and love is certainly a component of the Gospel message. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8.

The progressive emergents, however, want to focus on that verse and ignore the need for repentance. But without repentance there is no salvation. The Bible makes it clear that God is Holy and man is sinful, and that sin makes a separation between the two (Isaiah 59:1-2). Without repentance from sin, wicked men cannot have fellowship with a Holy God. We are dead in our trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1) and until we forsake them through repentance, we cannot be made alive in Christ. The Scriptures speak of “repentance unto life” (Acts 11:18). We turn from sin to the Savior. This is why Paul preached “repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ” (Acts 20:21).
The first public word Jesus preached was “repent” (Matthew 4:17). John the Baptist began his ministry the same way (Matthew 3:2). Jesus told His hearers that without repentance, they would perish (Luke 13:3). If belief is all that is necessary for salvation, then the logical conclusion is that one need never repent. Yet the Bible gives this warning:

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;” (1 John 1:6).

For the progressive emergents who need no repentance because there is no Hell, the Bible says they lie and do not have the truth in them. The Bible goes on to say, “He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesses and forsakes them [repentance] shall have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13). Jesus said that there was joy in heaven over one sinner who “repents” (Luke 15:10). If there is no repentance, there is no joy because there is no salvation. The Apostle Peter went on to preach on the Day of Pentecost. He commanded his hearers to repent “for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). Without repentance, there is no remission of sins; we are still under His wrath. Peter further said, “Repent …and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19).

Scripture in fact does command that we confront sin. (I Timothy 5:20, “As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all…”; Luke 17:3, “…if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him,”; James 5:19-20, “….if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”; 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort….”).

Without rebuke or confrontation there is no conviction of sins, Without conviction of sins, there can be no repentance. Without repentance there can be no salvation.

Folks, be careful. We live in evil days. The Apostate church is growing and it is deceiving many. Mr. Pavolitz suggested emancipation from American Christianity in his blog post and I want to mention a couple of my points in rebuttal. #1 – there is no American Christianity, there is only one body, one church, one body of Christ which contains all nations. All those who would repent and believe, not just Americans. THAT’S the church! #2 -the problem in the church isn’t a lack of love or compassion. Its a lack of discernment. Its a growing rejection of the cardinal doctrines of the Christian faith in the guise of tolerance or social justice, for fear of being labeled a bigot or being politically incorrect. It is loving your sin and wanting to remain in it because you love it, and you hate being rebuked for it because you love it. Carnality is as big in the church today as it ever was in Corinth 2,000 years ago. Not using any discernment, apathy, being comfortable in our sin, and rejecting sound doctrine in favor of those who would tell us what we want to hear – THOSE are the real problems within the church today. Its not a lack of love — its too much love for our own sin that’s the real problem.

So please stop feeding the wolves in our midst. Sharing and passing around posts from progressive emergents does serious damage to the true church – we are throwing the sheep to the wolves when we do this. An excellent article from Tim Challies on this subject  Be wise and discerning!

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. – 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Overcoming Gluttony

A Personal Testimony:

Like most Christians, my life since coming to Christ has not been full of rainbows and unicorns with everything being just perfect and wonderful. Now, I’m not saying it has not been filled with the joy that only the Holy Spirit can bring, but I am saying it hasn’t always been easy for me. You know the old saying 3 steps forward and one step back? Well for me it’s always been more like 1 step forward and 5 steps back. I’ve had many different areas of struggle in my life but one particular one is weight. Boy have I struggled over the years with that one! I’ve ridden that diet roller coaster of weight gain, lose it, weight gain, lose it, weight gain……a vicious cycle.

It began after the kids were born – I just never seemed to get rid of that extra baby weight, and so it kept piling on. Over the years I know I’ve tried every diet fad and diet plan known to mankind and then some. I even no doubt invented my own plans from time to time. But every single one worked at first, but then what? Every single time the weight came back. And it not only came back but every pound I had lost brought a friend with him when it came back, so I always ended up heavier than I had been to begin with! Those pounds always came back because I never really changed anything. It was always, “Just get that weight off”, and then go back and do the same old things that caused my weight gain to begin with!

One huge mistake that I made in all of my struggles was to try ‘diet’ this and ‘diet’ that. Zero calories this and zero calories that, in particular anything that had artificial sugar in them like Aspartame, or Sucralose, or Nutrisweet for example. Little did I know (since there was no information on this at the time) but this stuff was far more harmful than it was good. I won’t say anymore on this subject other than to say that hundreds of studies show that it causes Metabolic Disorder in 70% of the population which always leads to weight gain instead of loss. To throw another monkey wrench into things, I developed Adenomyosis when I was 32 and had to undergo a complete hysterectomy since at the time that was the only treatment. Consequently, I was placed on synthetic hormones which – yes you guessed it – as a side effect can cause weight gain. Don’t you wish some pharmaceutical company somewhere would just get with the program and just once come up with a medication that had a “you will lose weight side effect” instead? Unfortunately for me no one has, so I continued to balloon and I had more excuses for being heavy than Carter’s used to make liver pills. I was the absolute queen of diet excuses, or rather bad diet excuses.

Now the longer this cycle went on the more sin gained control of my life. I began to develop a sort of c’est la vie attitude. I would tell myself that nothing I did was going to have any positive effect since things were completely out of my control. I began to convince myself that there was nothing that I could do; therefore, it was perfectly justifiable for me to eat whatever I wanted and whenever I wanted it! Self-satisfaction began to be the most important thing in life. Through it all I would never say that my weight gain was ever my fault due to my own sinful behavior. No, instead I blamed it on my estrogen medication, I blamed it on genetics, I even blamed my poor Mother. After all, she’s the one who forced me to clean my plate as a kid (all those starving kids in China she’d say to me); I blamed it on my poor husband and some of his bad eating habits being forced onto me, and so on it went.

I even looked at the Scriptures and found more excuses. I would look at verses like Proverbs 31:30 where it says “Beauty is vain”; or I would see I Samuel 16:7, “For God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Or I Peter 3:3-4, “Your adornment must not be merely external”…….And I would abuse those wonderful verses and say, see! It doesn’t matter how fat I am because God looks at the heart! I can be as fat as I want and He doesn’t care!! Or I Timothy 4:8 where it says, “for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things”, and I would twist that verse and run with it and say, “See! Exercise doesn’t matter to God, it doesn’t profit, only internal godliness matters!!” See how easy that is? To read into the Scriptures what you want it to say in order to justify sinful behavior? Am I the only one who has ever done this?!?

But God didn’t leave me alone in this. I was absolutely miserable. And I was riddled with guilt. Living in sin just seems to do that to a person. The Holy Spirit just keeps on working whether we want Him to or not doesn’t He? And so things just continued to go downhill for me. I got so frustrated riding that diet roller coaster and never getting anywhere that I finally reached the point where I just threw my hands up in the air and I said: “I Give Up Lord!” And at that point I quit even trying to lose weight any longer with the result being that I just kept on getting fatter and fatter – because I became a glutton. If I was going to be heavy no matter what I did, I may as well enjoy life, I said to myself. And so when you reach this abyss you eat whatever you want, portion size doesn’t matter, and whenever you feel like it. The lust of the eyes and satisfying the desires of the flesh begins to reign in your life. Unfortunately, I still wasn’t happy, and fortunately the Lord still wouldn’t give up on me. I ended up with high blood pressure, having to undergo gall bladder surgery, heart problems, and found myself on a fast track towards diabetes, and I knew it.

So I began to make a list and reflect on what I was doing as a fat person that I hadn’t done when I used to be a thin person. In making my list, patterns began to emerge (besides the artificial sugar or the medications) that began to clue me in that perhaps I had an overeating problem. That it wasn’t all the excuses that I had deceived myself with, that perhaps I had become a glutton. I looked up the word glutton in the dictionary:

“A person who eats and drinks excessively or voraciously.” – Random House, 2016

“A person devoted to eating and drinking to excess.” – Collins English Dictionary 2012

And in my studies I began to see verses like:

  • Proverbs 23:20-21 – “Do not be with heavy drinkers of wine, Or with gluttonous eaters of meat; for the heavy drinker and the glutton will come to poverty..”

  • Proverbs 28:7 – “…..But he who is a companion of gluttons humiliates his father.”

  • Proverbs 23:2 – “And put a knife to your throat If you are a man of great appetite.”

And this is the verse that absolutely brought me to my knees:

“For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.” – Philippians 3:18 & 19

For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.

I got out my little Greek lexicon and looked up the word for ‘appetite’ in this verse and it literally translates to ‘belly’ or ‘stomach’. In other words, whose god is their belly, or whose god is their stomach. I was floored – This verse is saying that any person who is ruled by their belly, or ruled by their stomach, ruled by their appetite, is an enemy of Christ.

At this point I was able to look in the mirror and for the first time look at myself and say, “Sheree, YOU are the reason you are fat.” You don’t just have a metabolism problem, or a medication problem, or a genetic problem. You have a sin problem. You are overeating. You are being ruled by your desires for food and you need to repent. As I actually began to count out the calories and measure out portion sizes I saw just how many calories I was putting in and I was shocked. Oh. My. Gosh. You see I simply could not honestly sit there and blame all these different excuses I had come up with for my problems, because here I was consuming 3,000+ calories a day and my idea of exercise was walking from the sofa to the bathroom and back to the couch! Seriously? Going back to those verses I was abusing I finally realized that when God did look at my heart, He wouldn’t like what He saw! I had to repent.  And with my struggles in conquering this sin in my life I’ve also realized that gluttony is probably the most overlooked sin in the church today. It’s just something we do not want to touch! It’s the acceptable sin, or the respectable sin.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I heard a sermon on gluttony – if ever. And while many of us are overweight we do not want to confront this sin in ourselves or with others. There seems to always be something else or someone else we can put the blame to, rather than just facing the fact that we have a sinful love of too much food. In fact, the church can actually be a chief hindrance to help others overcome this sin in their lives. How? Because every time we get together as a body for fellowship or bible studies or whatever, there always seems to be food involved. We always seem to have snacks, or meals, don’t we? Why do we do that?

I submit that part of the reason we are refusing to acknowledge this sin comes from our excessive politically correct culture where sin has been redefined as disease. Our culture has made it taboo to speak out against this problem. There are people who are overweight genuinely due to certain medical issues such as a problem with a thyroid, etc. so we naturally just shy away from this. I also submit that most of us struggle with this sin at some point in our lives and we hesitate to confront, feeling hypocritical if we do, so again we punt the can down the road.

Did the early church fail to confront this sin or is this a fairly recent phenomenon? Clement of Alexandria had this to say in A.D. 190, “But the hiccupping of those who are loaded with wine, the snortings of those who are stuffed with food, the snoring rolled in the bed clothes, the rumblings of pained stomachs, cover over the clear-seeing eye of the soul by filling the mind with ten thousand fantasies, the cause too much food, which drags the rational part of man down to a condition of stupidity.” (The Instructor II:9)

If one researches through the writings of the early Church Fathers and the beliefs in the early church you will find many more such as the above. Why is this such a problem? It may well be that gluttony was listed as one of the 7 deadly sins due to the possibility of it being the ultimate gateway to sin. Gluttony represents a lack of personal self-control, all at the same time as being completely innocuous, it nevertheless creates habits of self-indulgence that will ultimately lead to other sins far more serious than the inability to put the fork down.

So in going back attempting to tackle this problem in my life I reread the definition again using a different dictionary this time, in this case Miriam-Webster 2016, which described it as – “one given habitually to greedy, excessive eating.” Excessive eating. Habitual excessive eating. Habitually indicates this is someone who lives this way 24/7 365 days a year. So we’re not talking about a Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day indulgence here – we’re talking about a lifestyle of overeating. Habitual. Now what does the Bible have to say about all of this even further:

  • I Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” And I had to ask myself if my overeating was giving glory to God. The simple answer is: No.

  • I Corinthians 6:19-20, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”  No. I definitely could not say my body was giving any glory to God being overweight.

I could honestly look at that verse in my heavier days and laughingly say, “If my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, why in the world do I look like Buddha?” Here I was, my body a temple of the Holy Spirit, looking more like I was worshipping Buddha than following Christ. What a sad temple is that?  So I began to see what a horrible testimony I was presenting to the lost in all of my heavier glory. I also began to seriously look at the BMI index. Body Mass Index:

The BMI figures are not set in stone, but they are nevertheless a good guide still currently in use by the CDC, the U.S. military, and most doctor’s offices. Now the following chart is going to be a bit painful. When looking at the chart below you can see weight on the left column with height running across the bottom and then graphed out the approximate range of where a person should be falling. Notice how much red there is? In running calculations from the previous BMI chart and then comparing them to this one I came up with a 5 ft 5 in woman who weighs 162 lbs would be considered overweight. BUT, if she weighs 186 lbs or above she is officially obese. Not just overweight – obese.

When I calculated my own BMI when I was heavy I found out I was off the charts. Another down on my knees moment. Because I began to realize using the BMI calculations that any woman over 200 lbs would have to be a minimum of 6 ft 5 in to be within a normal BMI. Any woman over 250 lbs would have to be a 7 ft Amazon AND a tri-athlete at least to be considered a normal weight!  So I began to pray, how do I overcome this? What am I doing wrong and what should I be doing to correct things? In the process I discovered some interesting patterns:

1. I tried on my own to stop doing what I was doing over and over, but I continued to fail as I was doing it on my own, so I just gave up. The one thing I did not fail at was gaining the weight back and keeping it on. My problem wasn’t motivation. My problem was recognizing that I had a sin problem. I refused to repent and trust God rather than trusting myself. Prov. 3:5 & 6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” It was never God will solve the problem, it was always the next bigger and better diet plan was going to solve the problem.

2. I blamed others or my circumstances for my failure. I refused to see what God had to say in Romans 14:12, “So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.” Stop the blame game! I am the only one responsible and answerable for my sin. No one else, and nothing else, is responsible for my sinful behavior; only me.

3. I refused to acknowledge that overeating is sin. I fell for the teaching of the world that being overweight is a disease, or it’s a metabolism problem, or it’s a genetic issue, or fill in the blank. It’s just not my fault. Now here is where my testimony may start getting me into trouble. I understand that not every overweight person is indulging in sinful behavior. I’m not saying that at all! I know there are indeed many medical factors and medications that can truthfully cause weight gain – and I’m not talking about these people. But I am talking about people who are overweight because they overeat and that statistically does happen to be the majority of us who are overweight. And this is my testimony, and since I know what I was doing better than anyone else, I can say with complete assurance that my struggles had to do with gluttony and nothing else. And when I was held captive to that sin it was easier to justify it by believing it was a weakness or a genetic problem rather than confronting my sinful behavior patterns. I should have applied I John 1:9 from the get go, confessing it then gaining forgiveness, rather than playing the blame game for years.

4. I refused to see that my overeating was controlling me rather than me controlling my overeating. I discovered that a lot of my overeating was actually being done in secret. You know eating when no one else is watching? At home in front of the T.V. or while reading a book, there I was stuffing my face.

Romans 6:14 says, “For sin shall not be master over you.” But there I was letting my sin master me. What I should have done was put James 5:16 into practice which is, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another,….” Get help. How I wish someone would have gotten in my face and said, “Sheree, you are fat! What are you going to do about it?” Unfortunately no one did – ever. We can laugh about that and say, “Oh boy, nobody is ever going to do that are we?” Who would be brave enough to ever do that one!!! I laugh even harder when I think about the guys ever braving that one, they know better! It makes me think of the old story where the husband gets that ‘deer in the headlights’ look when his wife asks him if her new dress makes her look fat. Nope, no way are the men ever going to touch this issue with a bunch of women in the audience. I’m the one who got snookered with this topic with this little pamphlet! And I can laugh about this now in hindsight, but at the time I can honestly say, “I should have confessed my sin and I should have sought help a whole lot sooner than I did.”

5. I began to hide from people like Eve tried to hide from God. While I was overweight, I would never let you take my photograph if I could help it. Which let me tell you is extremely difficult when your husband is a professional photographer. But I did it, and it wasn’t easy, but I managed to get it done as they say. Then I noticed that when I would see someone from my past that I hadn’t seen in years I would hide so they wouldn’t see me. I found myself refusing to attend class reunions, because I didn’t want anyone to see me that knew me 20+ years ago. And at that point I knew I had a problem.

Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.” That certainly was me. I knew I needed to confess and stop hiding. Hiding from the sin instead of confessing the sin did not solve my problem.  And so I began to have my eyes opened. I began to realize that my food should be for strength, not mere satisfaction of my desires. My food is supposed to be for energy. That’s why it’s called calories. We eat for energy, no more and no less than what we need. God is gracious to us in that our food isn’t tasteless or unenjoyable, which unfortunately is precisely why we tend to abuse it in our sinfulness. And my food is also not intended for comfort. My comfort is to be found in the Lord. My food was never intended by God to be a stress reliever. I should be going to the LORD when times are tough. So in the process I’ve also come to hate the term, “comfort food”. I understand the rationale behind it, I’m certainly not trying to discount times when certain foods make us think of Grandma or memories that are special to us that make us feel all warm and fuzzy. Those things are not bad! But what I am trying to say here is that food should not be our source of comfort. God should always be our source of comfort. Consider these verses:

  • “Taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

  • “Desire the sincere spiritual milk of the Word” (I Peter 2:2).

  • “I am the bread of life. Come to me and you will not hunger”(John 6:35).

  • “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17).

God is our delight, He is our joy, and He is our comfort.  If I give myself over to being satisfied with spiritual bread, spiritual milk, then my appetite towards overeating will lose its power over me. And that’s what happened

I began to see that self-control is one of the fruits of the Spirit. When I began to recognize that I had a sin problem and confessed it, repented of it, then God blessed me in this area. And only then. Until I repented of my sinful behaviors I had no success in long term weight loss. Once I repented that changed. I finally had success. And long term success at that. I don’t think it was me, I really don’t. I believe God honored my repentance as only He can.

Now, there are 2 things you’re not ever supposed to talk about to women, right? What are they? Age and weight. We can laugh about that too. Never, ever, ask a woman how old she is or what her weight is. If you want to open up a can of worms that one will do it! But with this pamphlet I am so getting myself into trouble here, because I’m bringing up both! I am hitting both and boy am I stepping in it I’m sure. Here I am going to mention both. And I want to mention both because God has blessed me so much and woe to me if I fail to give Him the glory for that. You see He brought me from a 270 lb weight 5 years ago to a current weight of 135 lbs.

And He did this to a 50-something year old woman. Age should never ever be a detractor for repentance or seeking to please God. Do not ever fall for the myth that once you are over 40 you are beyond help in this area. NO! You are not. You will never be beyond the scope of repentance and genuine change.  Was it easy for me? No. It took over 2 years and an incredible amount of self-control, and self-denial, and yes that dreaded word: exercise. It also took a change in lifestyle and a change in habits. I had to develop a change in eating habits and patterns. If I may I would like to leave you with a couple of tips for those of you who may be struggling with this sin like I did:

1. Repent. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

2. Submit to God and ask Him for the power to overcome gluttony in your life. James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

3. Replace. Cultivate other or new appetites. Put off the old appetites and put on new ones. Ephesians 4:22-24, “that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, …..and put on the new self,…..” I found this quote on the Desiring God Ministries website that pretty much says it all from Dr. John Piper. “So we need to cultivate a range of appetites for great and good things, things like good literature, people’s fellowship, reading the Bible, nature, work, etc. Discover these other appetites so that things other than food can satisfy you. Then pray earnestly and cultivate and nurture these satisfactions.”

4. Be patient and praise God. Change is going to take time and believe me it’s going to take work. It needs time because it took a lot of years to develop those bad habits, and it’s going to take time to overcome them. Change will take time. Don’t be discouraged when you fail. You will fall and fail occasionally. And when you do, just pick yourself up and begin again. There is that old saying, “How do you eat an elephant?” One bite at a time. Little by little. Letting it happen slowly allows you the time that you need to develop those new eating habits and disciplines that will become new habits and disciplines.

Remember Romans 8:1-2, 4, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death….who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” And remember as well, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” And that includes overcoming gluttony.

Repent, submit, replace, be patient and then praise Him for His goodness in your life.
If you do these things, if you repent and choose to develop godly patterns in the area of diet and exercise, and yet you are still overweight that’s not bad! Do not do what I did and give up doing what is right because you didn’t get the results you wanted. Stop that! Don’t beat yourself up if you are not a size 6 when you are doing everything you should be and are supposed to be doing. So what if you don’t experience the results that I did? If you do what is right then God will bless. He will bless perhaps differently, but He will bless.

There is nothing in Scripture that mandates how much we should weigh or what our dress size should be. Hollywood might mandate that but God doesn’t! Our goal in any weight loss plan is not to look like the next supermodel, our goal is pleasing God. Remember back at the beginning where I mentioned that I was abusing verses like Proverbs 31:30 where I went too far to the right focusing only on the heart, while neglecting my body in order to excuse sin? Well, now don’t go too far over to the left and neglect the heart by focusing only on the body in correcting your sinful eating habits.

We want to be right here in the middle where our hearts are the main focus, BUT, at the same time we take care of what God has given us in our bodies for His glory, and for His purpose. This is the goal.

I Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” ESV

Why in the World do Evangelicals Support Donald Trump?

That seems to be the big question these days in the blogosphere and all across social media.  I keep seeing all kinds of posts and links and likes whereby any self-respecting conservative evangelical Christian cannot possibly, POSSIBLY, support Donald Trump to be the next President of these United States.   As one of those absurd evangelicals who actually happen to support Donald Trump I find myself in the unique position whereby I believe I can provide  at least some  of the answers for those pondering this baffling phenomenon.

The very first reason to be in support of Donald Trump can be summed up in one word:  Eligibility.  While there were 18 candidates in the race this was perhaps not as big of an issue, but as the race dwindled down it has become a major issue. Of the top 3 running candidates to date only one is eligible to hold the office:  Donald Trump.

Article II, Section I, Clause 5 states:  No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

Constitution - union graphic

I have personally researched this issue for years now, and I can tell you that the research is solid, and the founding documents are solid that “Natural Born” means born of American citizen parents (plural) within U.S. Jurisdiction.  It means an inherited state of being that no government can legislate, it is of the blood.  Whenever you have to resort to an “Act” of Congress whether that be an amendment, a Naturalization Act, or a code of Law to prove your citizenship you have just proven you are not Natural Born because a true Natural Born citizen needs no acts, statutes or codes.  The Constitution has no authority to “create” a Natural Born citizen – it can only determine who may be “Naturalized”.

Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 states: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,……

Notice that Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 does not state anything about “natural born” – only Naturalization.  Think of it in terms of your natural children versus an adopted child.  You need no judge, jury or court decree to declare that a child born of your body is your natural child — it is self evident.  It is of the blood.  An adopted child on the other hand does need that judge, the court decrees, and laws for you to become the parent of that child.  It is not self-evident, it did not come from the blood, it came of a court decree or Judicial Act.  So it is with citizenship.  There is of the blood citizenship, i.e., Natural Born, and there are Acts of Congress, i.e., Naturalization.

There are many Constitutional Scholars out there who agree with me and affirm the definition I’ve given above and have sought to educate on this issue again and again.  I myself was taught this definition in a High School Civics Class 40 years ago.  This understanding is not new, what is new is the lack of understanding among the American people, particularly younger Americans.  Our schools have failed them miserably.  Following are just a few:

“…citizenship is the inheritance of the children of those who have taken part in the late revolution; but this is confined exclusively to the children of those who were themselves citizens. Citizenship by inheritance belongs to none but the children of those Americans, who, having survived the declaration of independence, acquired that adventitious character in their own right, and transmitted it to their offspring….” He continued that citizenship “as a natural right, belongs to none but those who have been born of citizens since the 4th of July, 1776….” (David Ramsay, (1749-1815), Historian, Founding Father, and a delegate to the Continental Congress from 1782-1783 and 1785-1786.)

On this issue I have been amazed to watch the utter dishonesty among many, both within the media and within the courts, who claim that this has “never been defined”.  That is categorically false.  It has been defined over and over in the courts and on the floor of Congress.

“[I] find no fault with the introductory clause, which is simply declaratory of what is written in the Constitution, that every human being born within the jurisdiction of the United States of parents not owing allegiance to any foreign sovereignty is, in the language of your Constitution itself, a natural born citizen.” John A. Bingham, (R-Ohio) US Congressman, March 9, 1866 Cong. Globe, 39th, 1st Sess., 1291 (1866)).

“…it was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens . . .” (Minor v Happersett – https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/88/162 – 88 U.S. 162 – 1875)

R.S. § 2172, granting inherited citizenship to children born abroad of parents who “now are, or have been,” citizens, applies only to children whose parents were citizens on or before April 14, 1802, when its predecessor became effective. When petitioner was born in 1906, R.S. § 1993 provided the sole source of inherited citizenship for foreign-born children, and it applied only to children whose fathers were citizens.  (Montana v Kennedy – https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/366/308/case.html#309 – 366 U.S.308 – 1961)

According to The Tenth Amendment Center:  “Senator Cruz was born in Canada of an American mother and a Cuban father. By congressional statute, he was a citizen at birth. His citizenship is not at issue. What is at issue is whether he is “natural born” as the Constitution uses the term. When the Constitution was written, the default rule of international law was that, although for many purposes a person’s status followed the condition of the mother (according to the maxim partus sequitur ventrem), for citizenship or “allegiance” purposes status followed that of the father.”  (See:  http://tenthamendmentcenter.com/2016/01/13/claims-that-senator-cruz-is-not-natural-born-need-to-be-taken-seriously/)

The truth is Mothers could never impart citizenship until the 1934 Nationality Act. American law states:  “Prior to May 24, 1934, U.S. citizen mothers were not permitted to transmit U.S. citizenship to their children born abroad. The Act of May 24, 1934 (the “1934 Statute”) gave U.S. citizen mothers equality of status regarding their ability to transmit U.S. citizenship. However the provision was not applied retroactively. Therefore, children born before May 24, 1934 to a U.S. citizen mother and an alien father did not acquire U.S. citizenship.”

This is precisely why Winston Churchill stated back in 1932:

There are various little difficulties in the way. However, I have been treated so splendidly in the United States that I should be disposed, if you can amend the Constitution, seriously to consider the matter.”  – Winston Churchill, 1932

This comment was in response to Churchill being qualified to run for President as his mother was an American citizen (he was born to an American mother and a British father in England in 1874).  In 1874 the 1934 Act had not yet been legislated and Churchill was not only not a natural born citizen, he was not a citizen at all.  This is why he was made an “Honorary” citizen in 1963 during the Kennedy Administration.  Now, what makes Ted Cruz more worthy than Winston Churchill??  If Winston Churchill would not run for the position of U.S. President, and indeed had to have Honorary citizenship bestowed upon him, what makes Ted Cruz claim that he is Natural Born?  The truth is he can’t.  And he has lied over and over on this issue.  Another point to ponder for those of you who believe and accept Cruz’s eligibility you must also affirm and accept that Jordan’s Prince Hamzeh or Prince Hashim would also be eligible.  You see although their father was the king of Jordan, their mother is an American citizen.  Therefore, under Cruz’s logic as long as one of them meets residency requirements, either one of them would be free to run for the office of POTUS!  Do you honestly believe the Founders of this nation truly wanted a foreign born Prince or the brother of a foreign King sitting in the Oval Office?  Really?  Because that is what you have to believe to affirm Cruz is eligible.

There has unfortunately been a deliberate and concentrated effort over the past few decades to redefine the meaning of “Natural Born”.  There have been many attempts in the last few years to introduce Constitutional amendments that would strip this from the Constitution — all acts failed.  I want to reinforce for a moment that if all it required to be a “Natural Born” citizen was to have one citizen parent with place of birth anywhere in the world these attempts would have been unnecessary!  This idea that you can be born in another country with only one citizen parent is completely unheard of until Ted Cruz!!  Barack Obama ran into trouble with his eligibility and brought out all the stops to gain an “Hawaii” birth certificate, he should have just waited for Ted Cruz, he could have freely proclaimed Kenya under Ted’s definition, and it wouldn’t have mattered.  The reason this issue is going uncontested is because both sides of the aisle want this clause removed, but they can’t get it through the amendment process, so they redefine it under their terms such as Ted’s Harvard Law buddies (who he paid to write their review) attempting to redefine the term through a legal sleight of hand deceiving the American people by the thousands using a defunct Naturalization Act.  This horrific legal mumbo jumbo was refuted quite well by Constitutional Attorney Mario Apuzzo on his blog here.  The 1790 Act of Naturalization is the one they trot out as the Holiest of Holies, but they neglect to mention that Act was repealed in 1795.  Not only was this disingenuous but its deceptive to the nth degree.  Why do they do this?  Because the NWO Globalist agenda requires that foreigners be allowed into the Oval Office, its really that simple, more to follow below under this topic.  And the courts have aided and abetted this issue by refusing to hear one case after the other claiming the American people “have no standing” to have this issue adjudicated.

Now we can go around and around on this, sort of like a Poker match.  You bring out your Constitutional Scholars and I’ll raise you 2 of my Constitutional Scholars refuting every 1 of your Constitutional Scholars.  You can trot out the 1790 Naturalization Act and I will trot out the 1795 repeal of that Act, but at the end of the day I probably won’t convince you and you probably won’t convince me.  But as Christians this is a serious issue.  Why?

Because we citizens living in the United States of America no longer live under a Monarchy. We have no king. We have had no King since the Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776.  There is no single governing official in this country. America’s “Supreme Law” does not rest with any one man or any group of individuals. Our “Supreme Law” does not rest with the President, the Congress, or even the Supreme Court. In America, the U.S. Constitution is the “Supreme Law of the Land.” Under this document every President, Member of Congress, Supreme Court Justice, Military Officers, etc. must swear an oath of allegiance.  The United States Constitution is THE authority in the United States.

Now read Romans 13:1-2:  Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.” (ESV)

The “governing authorities” within the United States are not the men who occupy elected office (although they are certainly authority figures), rather the “governing authorities” are the tenets and principles set forth within the U.S. Constitution that every human authority within the United States must swear allegiance to.   Under our laws and form of government, it is the duty of every citizen, indeed every Christian including our elected officials, to obey the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, this is how a paraphrase of what Romans Chapter 13:1-2 would actually read to Christians in America:

“Let every person be subject to the U.S. Constitution. For there is no Constitution except from God, and the Constitution that exists has been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the Constitution resists what God has appointed, and those who resist this Constitution will incur judgment.”

I see over and over on the net, in blogs, various articles, opinions, Facebook posts likes, etc. criticizing and lambasting Christians who support Trump because of Trump’s morals, language, tone, and what have you.  How can you be a Christian and vote for Trump the refrain goes even to the point of challenging the salvation of Trump supporters.  But I’m going to flip that around on you Trump haters.  Once you have a proper understanding of Romans 13:1-2 how then can any Christian choose to vote for or support a Presidential candidate whose eligibility (or lack thereof) is in violation of that Constitution? Every single one of these various articles, posts, and likes, never once mention the eligibility issue and Romans 13:1-2.  But to knowingly vote for a candidate who is not eligible puts one in rebellion against God. How?  Because when you choose to support a candidate who is not eligible you are resisting the ordinance of God in the United States, which is our Constitution.  And when you knowingly do this you are resisting the qualifications laid down in our supreme law, our supreme authority. This issue trumps (no pun intended) morals.  You want to take the speck out of my eye regarding Trump’s behavior, but you leave a log labeled rebellion against our supreme authority hanging out of your eye!

I realize not every Christian accepts my definition of “Natural Born”,  it is easy to understand why when the powers that be have been attacking Article II for decades now and has ceased from teaching its meaning to younger generations.  So why you may think its okay for you to vote for ineligible candidates, I for one can’t, because I know better and I know I will face judgment doing so.  I will not vote for any Presidential candidate who is not born of American citizens (plural) within U.S. Jurisdiction because that is the requirement laid down by God (Romans 13:1-2) in the U.S. Constitution Article II, Section I, Clause 5.  Now you may have chosen to believe that Cruz and/or Rubio are Natural Born citizens and thus deceive yourself that a vote for either of these men can be done with a clear conscience, but to those of us who know without doubt that these men are not Constitutionally eligible, we cannot do the same because we know we will face the judgment of God.  To do so would place us in open rebellion against God.  I have repeated that twice so that you get it – this is an issue of conviction.  You may not share my personal conviction in this matter and that is okay, but you do not have the right to malign or otherwise attack my character because I choose a different candidate than you do because of that conviction.

I hear from many Christians that they simply cannot cast a vote for Trump, and I say fair enough, but I also say if you are going to obey the Scriptures Cruz and/or Rubio are not options either.  And….I’m going to flip that again…..there are many evangelicals who will refuse to vote for Cruz or Rubio due to the eligibility issue alone in the same degree there are those who will refuse to vote for Trump.  So that argument is void.  The #1 reason why Trump is getting the evangelical vote is the reality that there are many evangelicals like myself who understand this eligibility issue, and like myself will refuse to vote for any men who do not fit the required definition.  And I can tell you it is highly offensive to us to be chastised on “morals” when we have been left with no other option in order not to violate this Constitutional mandate.   I get that you hate Trump.  I get that you don’t think its fair that Cruz or Rubio doesn’t fit the eligibility requirements and you want to ignore this issue so ‘Your Guy’ can be elected.  But you need to remember that when Paul wrote Romans 13:1 & 2 Nero was sitting on the throne there in Rome.  Its not about fair, its about God’s commands.  And if He commanded His people to obey Nero, then its certainly rebellion on our part to decide the Constitution (which is a just and fair authority as it was written)  should only be obeyed when we agree with it, and can be ignored or redefined apart from the amendment process when we don’t.    That’s like deciding which parts of Scripture can be redefined or ignored at will – it doesn’t fly with God.  If you don’t like Article II, Section I, Clause 5 then the process to change it is through the amendment process, not arbitrarily redefining it, or choosing to just ignore it and be apathetic on this issue.  Now stop and think on this, please.  If the Article II clause gets arbitrarily redefined what is to prevent the redefinition of the  1st amendment, 2nd amendment, and so forth?  Look folks, the candidates have come down to 3 leading candidates within the GOP from the original 18:  Trump, Cruz, and Rubio.  Only one is eligible.

Two final points on this issue for those of you still insisting that these men fit the definition of Natural Born:  1)  Are you prepared to abandon the Originalist Conservative View of the Constitution in favor of a Progressive Living Constitution?  If yes, then okay, what more can I say?  If no, you need to realize that while the various Constitutional scholars we both can trot out advocating their differing opinions (based on the Originalist or Living Constitution viewpoints they each hold) regarding the meaning of the term “Natural Born”, they ALL (its 100% unanimous) nevertheless agree and affirm that to accept anything other than birth to citizen parents in U.S. Jurisdiction is a Living Constitution viewpoint.  They ALL (its 100% unanimous) affirm that the above narrow definition of birth to citizen parents in U.S. Jurisdiction is the Originalist view.  This is affirmed by Laurence Tribe, Harvard Law Professor, and former Professor to Ted Cruz who stated:

“When Cruz was my constitutional law student at Harvard, he aced the course after making a big point of opposing my views in class — arguing stridently for sticking with the “original meaning” against the idea of a more elastic “living Constitution” whenever such ideas came up. I enjoyed jousting with him, but Ted never convinced me — nor did I convince him. At least he was consistent in those days. Now, he seems to be a fair weather originalist, abandoning that method’s narrow constraints when it suits his ambition.” –  (Boston Globe, January 11, 2016)

You have to realize that once you affirm that Cruz or Rubio fit the Constitutional requirement and choose one of them over Trump, you must abandon the originalist interpretation of the Constitution and you must embrace a progressive viewpoint.  Are you prepared to do that?  Really?  And call yourself Pro-Constitution and a Principled Conservative?  Really?  Hurl stones at me and other evangelicals all you want to regarding my refusal to back an ineligible candidate, but I can promise you I will not cave on this.

Secondly, another phrase that can be mentioned regarding support of Donald Trump is National Sovereignty.  Stephen Miller is a former aide to Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL).  He is currently working as Senior Policy Advisor for the Trump campaign.  He did an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday, February 27, 2016.

“Because it [Obamatrade] answered the question of whether or not the United States will remain a sovereign country. Already in ways that we don’t readily see but we experience the effects, the sovereign powers of the United States have been bled away, whether it’s with agreements in the UN, whether it’s with agreements in existing international structures, like the World Trade Organization, or NAFTA, or something called the Generalized Agreement in Trade and Services …” – Stephen Miller, February 27, 2016

The powers of the New World Order, Internationalism, Globalism, NAFTA, the North American Union, etc. are all designed towards one world government and the elimination of not only our borders, but our very sovereignty as a nation.  This is dangerous stuff here.  If you are a Christian, this is one-world government Anti-Christ coming to the throne type stuff.   As Christians we understand this one world government will come to pass at some future date, that does not mean that we must vote for it or help it come to pass!  Stephen Miller went on to say that a vote for anyone other than Donald Trump in 2016 will be a vote for the destruction of the United States.  Why? Because of the passage of TPP we have very little time left, we may not even have 4 years left.  And once we ‘cross that rubicon’ we won’t be able to turn it back.  Very sobering.  Just how bad is it really?

Bad.  According to The Economy in Crisis published in 2013 it reported:  “To implement the TPP free-trade agreement, Congress will be asked to surrender its responsibility under Section 1, Article 8 of the Constitution to regulate commerce with foreign nations, and grant President Obama extra-constitutional “Trade Promotion Authority” to negotiate the final TPP agreement. The administration seeks to gain “fast-track authority,” a provision under the Trade Promotion Authority that requires Congress to review an FTA under limited debate, in an accelerated time frame subject to a yes-or-no vote by a simple majority vote rather than a two-thirds vote, as required for the ratification of a formal treaty.”  Today in 2016 TPP has received its fast-track authority from Senator Ted Cruz, he in fact pushed this through.  Another article here.  This is serious stuff folks.  And as Christians we are back to the Constitution, obeying it first and foremost, and we’re back to Romans 13:1 & 2 again.  I cannot support anything or anyone who seeks to strip Constitutional powers away from Congress, I would find myself in rebellion against God again.  The Constitution is my Supreme Law in the United States currently, it is not trade promotion that will give foreign powers the final authority over the United States Constitution!  In my mind, any Congressman, President, or Judge has committed treason passing that law and I will not vote for anyone who promoted it or continues to promote it.  So once again you want to focus on the speck in my eye of “morals” and “tone” and ignore the tree labeled constitutional rebellion hanging of your eye (that log has grown now).

A search on the Trans Pacific Partnership and national sovereignty yields article after article all saying pretty much the same thing, the surrender of Congressional responsibility can lead to nothing less than paving the way for Globalization and the New World Order and goodbye United States.  And to think this was done without a shot being fired and without the will or the approval of the American people is absolutely chilling.  The 2016 GOP candidates?  Again, only one of the original 18 choices stood firm against this monstrosity – Donald Trump.  The rest including Cruz, Rubio, et. al. all supported TPP or even sought the fast track of its passage! I know this to be true, because I’ve done the research.

Look folks, we are on a sinking ship.  It is past time to bail water, it is time to start plugging the holes and stop the ship from sinking and we don’t have much time left.  To constantly chip away at Trump’s “behavior” or Trump’s “morals” or any of Trump’s past sins and ignore this attack against our national sovereignty is to focus on bailing the water and ignore the holes!  We need to plug the holes and save the ship first, then we can move on to bailing out the water.  Ignoring this issue blathering on about “tone” and “behavior” and “morals” is akin to swatting at a gnat on your rosebush while a swarm of locusts is invading the entire garden.  I don’t really care about someone’s behavior or tone at this point if he can get the job done.

We need a General Patton, not Neville Chamberlain.  For those of you who may be uninformed, according to Patton’s official biography he was known for his intemperate manner.  For the men who fought in his army some loved him and some hated him.  My father-in-law served in Patton’s army (7th Army45th Infantry Division directly under Mark Clark).  I can remember him speaking of his glory days in World War II and while he always had great respect for General Clark, he hated Patton. Patton was profane, he was vulgar, and many times quite harsh to the troops according to him as I recall.  But he would always admit, along with most historians, that we would not have defeated Hitler and won Europe without him – intemperance and all.  And make no mistake – in 2016 we are at war.  And because we are at war with radical Islam (whether people want to admit it or not makes no difference) we are not electing a Pastor – we need a gruff, take no prisoners, General Patton type character if we are going to defeat this monster.  So Trump’s “tone” is of little consequence when you consider what we are up against here, because we are in serious peril as a nation, and I will make no apologies for that opinion.

titanic-sinking

A third reason for evangelical support of Donald Trump is illegal immigration and what this is doing not only to our safety, but to our jobs, and to our economy.  This does not in anyway indicate that I am against immigration.  Absolutely not.  What it does mean is that all immigration must be legal.  And that all American citizens should be put first.  Non-citizens should not have greater rights than citizens!  Phyllis Schlafly had it absolutely correct when she came out in support of Trump pounding on the table:  AMERICAN’S FIRST!   There is something seriously wrong in our nation when illegal immigrants get free college tuition and a citizen cannot.  Are you kidding me?  But that is what Marco Rubio did in Florida!

And Rubio has done much more than that.  Let us not forget the gang of 8 debacle.  Rubio likes to claim that bill had it passed would have provided “the toughest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history”, but Chris Crane (ICE Officer) refuted that saying, “I think that’s absolutely false – there was no real promise or guarantee of stronger border security. The bill actually relinquished Congress’ authority to establish border security measures to the head of DHS.” Once again like TPP, a relinquishing of Congressional Authority.  What is even worse is this bill would have legalized sex offenders, drunk drivers, and others with criminal records.  Does that sound like a “moral” position to you?  You’re going to get all bent out of shape because of adultery in Trump’s past, but ignore releasing violent sex offenders into the streets of America that Rubio wanted to do and in fact supported?  Its not okay to vote for a guy who has made mistakes in his marriage, but its okay to vote for a guy who legalizes sex offenders?  REALLY?  That’s where you want to go?? Well,  this issue got Rubio into some political hot water (and rightfully so) and he tried to claim Chris Crane was not even a law enforcement officer, resulting in an immediate rebuke from Crane, “You recently lied to the American public on FOX news regarding my current status and career as both an ICE Agent and Officer,” Crane writes in his email to Rubio. “I challenge you to make yourself available, as a United States Senator and Presidential Candidate, so that I may present my badge and credentials to you as proof that your comments on FOX news are false.”  To my knowledge Rubio has never responded.

And that is not the only time Rubio has lied over this issue.  In a chat with Univision’s Jorge Ramos, Rubio said (in Spanish), “I believe DACA is important. It can’t be terminated from one moment to the next, because there are already people benefiting from it,” referring to Obama’s Dream Act.  BUT, he later said in English, “But yes, it is going to have to end. It can’t be the permanent policy of the United States,” in effect saying one thing to Americans and quite another to Mexicans.  He got caught by Manny Roman on Breitbart News who happens to speak Spanish in his article:  “Marco Rubio, I speak Spanish. You lied about your Univision interviews.” Rubio has been squirming trying to downplay this, but too little too late as they say proving that Rubio is indeed in the pockets of pro-amnesty backers with no intention of securing our borders.

How about the other candidate, Cruz,  on illegal immigration and border security?  He has been all over the map on this issue, saying one thing, then reversing that position, and to date has not ruled out legal status for undocumented immigrants.  Here is another example of Cruz’s waffling.  Once again the only candidate left standing who has been consistent in demanding border security and is actively campaigning on building a wall is……Trump.

illegal immigration photo: our continent 220107mexicans2.jpg

And Trump is absolutely correct in his assertion that a country without borders is not a country.  According to the U.S. Constitution Article IV, Section 4, it is the responsibility of our government to protect against invasion and domestic violence.  That means securing the borders folks.  When we are being invaded, and those invaders are killing our citizens, it is the responsibility of our government to protect us against that.  If they do not we no longer even have a government, let alone borders!  And again we are back to Romans 13:1-2 aren’t we?  How can any Christian vote for those who will not obey the Constitution in this matter and are willfully rebelling against it?  So here we go again, you want to attack what you consider a speck in my eye of “morals” and “tone” but ignore the Sequoia labeled Constitutional Rebellion hanging out of yours!

Article IV, Section 4 – The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence.

And lack of security on our borders leads me to a fourth reason, Jobs.   Not only are we being invaded and gunned down in the streets, our very jobs are being given away.  Less than a month ago here in Indianapolis, 1400 people  lost their jobs to Mexico.  Most of us are familiar with this story of the Carrier HVAC systems plant leaving the country.  But they are certainly not the first, and if we don’t raise this sinking ship they won’t be the last.   Many, many manufacturing plants have already left the country.  The United States has lost 42,400 factories just since 2001. Dell, Inc. has announced plans to dramatically expand its operations in China with an investment of over $100 billion over the next decade. The United States has lost a total of about 5.5 million manufacturing jobs since October 2000.  Going back to the TPP issue again, there is a report that came out March 3, 2016 that reported there have been 112,500 jobs lost in Ohio as a direct result of the Trans Pacific Partnership.  This report is particularly interesting as it lists states with significant job losses as a direct result of TPP:

  • Michigan (214,600 jobs lost, equal to 5.12 percent of employment)
  • Indiana (103,800 jobs, 3.54 percent)
  • Kentucky (53,700 jobs, 2.92 percent)
  • Alabama (46,000 jobs, 2.32 percent)
  • Tennessee (61,000 jobs, 2.19 percent)
  • Ohio (112,500 jobs, 2.16 percent)
  • Mississippi (22,000 jobs, 1.86 percent)

The total jobs lost as a result of TPP in this report is 2,025,800.  Where did those jobs go?  Overseas. In 1959, manufacturing represented 28 percent of U.S. economic output. In 2008, it represented 11.5 percent.  Read more here.  Is this the country you want?  Its certainly not one that I want, its certainly not the one I remember, and again, no candidate other than Trump is even remotely on top of this issue.  I saw one Facebook poster make the comment that they hated Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again” commenting America is already great.  I would speculate this poster said that because he wasn’t around 40 years ago to see the difference!  But I was, and I remember functioning factories that are now boarded up all across the fruited plane. I remember when the U.S. was a leader in Industry and Manufacturing, and now we make nothing, or very little. We are now post-industrial. Not good.  I can remember going into stores and understanding that if you bought Chinese or Japanese you would get a lower quality product, and so if you could afford it you always bought American.  Now you have a very hard time buying American as very little is being manufactured here anymore and when you do find something it is the American product that is often of lower quality.  Even U.S. flags are made in China! So when Trump is saying, “Make America Great Again”, he is referring to our lost Industry and he couldn’t be more right.  And again, no other candidate, is even coming close to recognizing this.

19 Facts About The Deindustrialization Of America That Will Blow Your ...

IBM is the next to report massive layoffs are on the way.  According to the IBM Facebook Group a couple of comments say:

“Latest areas getting cut: AA IBM CMS Cloud Division; AMS Strategic Technical Services; Global Services Parts Operations; GTS Strategic Outsourcing. Workers are also reporting work is being moved offshore to Hungary and Brazil.”

“I am cut while my replacement H1B visa worker stays.”

As was the case with Disney employees, these employees are also being forced to train their foreign replacements.   These employees later showed up at a Trump rally and as you read the article Trump has been on top of this speaking out against this evil.  And evil it is.  The other candidates?  Silence.  Here is Trump’s position on H-1B Visas:

Trump position on H1-B Visas – “”Megyn Kelly asked about highly-skilled immigration. The H-1B program is neither high-skilled nor immigration: these are temporary foreign workers, imported from abroad, for the explicit purpose of substituting for American workers at lower pay. I remain totally committed to eliminating rampant, widespread H-1B abuse and ending outrageous practices such as those that occurred at Disney in Florida when Americans were forced to train their foreign replacements. I will end forever the use of the H-1B as a cheap labor program, and institute an absolute requirement to hire American workers first for every visa and immigration program. No exceptions.”

Cruz on the other hand wants to increase H-1B Visas by 500%!  As if we’ve not only lost enough jobs he wants to take away even more American jobs giving them to foreigners  So does Rubio.  At least Senator Jeff Sessions gets it when he said:

“It is understandable why these corporations push for legislation that will flood the labor market and keep pay low; what is not understandable is why we would ever consider advancing legislation that provides jobs for the citizens of other countries at the expense of our own,” Sessions wrote to lawmakers. “Who do we work for?”

Well said Sen. Sessions.  Who exactly are our Congressmen working for?  That is the real question here.

And that question leads me to yet a 5th reason, think one word:  Establishment.  Or rather, the complete and utter destruction of said GOP Establishment.  As an older conservative I have been around awhile in the political scheme of things.  I have been voting for 40 years now.  I cast my first primary vote way back in 1976.  Yes, I voted for Ronald Reagan that year.  And I have been choosing the “most principled conservative” every year since.  I am in fact among those voters who used to think that the “Establishment” was just a myth cooked up by the disgruntled.  Unfortunately over all of these years I have yet to see a single conservative issue dear to my heart ever wind its way through Congress.  Roe v Wade is still being contested, we are in the clutches of trillions of dollars of debt increasing by the hour, and our government is bigger and more oppressive than ever.  We conservatives were told time and again the reason nothing was done was Democrat control, bi-partisanship, it just can’t be done, etc. etc. Well, you get the idea.

As the old saying goes, “The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same old thing over and over expecting a different result.”  Is it not insane to keep electing people who say they are against open borders and then head to Washington and do the exact opposite?! Is it not insane to keep electing people who say they want to bring down the national debt and then go to Washington and increase that debt?! Is it not insane to keep electing people who tell us they will fight for those social issues we care about, then head off to Washington and do nothing about them?  Is it not insane to keep electing people who tell us they will appoint conservative justices for the supreme court who will be strict adherents to the originalist view of the Constitution and then turn around and appoint those justices who reveal themselves to be quite the opposite, even to the point of creating a special tax out of the scope of the constitutionality of the Supreme Court so that Obamacare may remain?   (And yes Cruz supporters, Ted Cruz was the man who pushed Roberts to George W. Bush – Chicago Tribune) Or how about those legislators who say they hate Obamacare, campaign on repealing it and defunding it, then go to Washington, turn it around and fund it?! Or more importantly those who helped TPP become a reality?! Then came Obamacare, the refusal to defund Planned Parenthood, and the final betrayal of Omnibus, Obamatrade, and the Iran deal.

Because of this past history, what makes you conservative voters out there believe that any “principled conservative” you choose to vote for is going to remain a “principled conservative” when he gets to Washington?   Honestly, what guarantee do you really have?  How in the world did we get to this point where principled conservatives can no longer even be trusted. Because they are neo-conservative who co-opted the term conservative in order to win elections is how.  If you don’t know what a neo-con is and why that matters go here.  Its because of these things that there is a very real COLD ANGER among the electorate.  The feelings of betrayal don’t begin to come close to how most of us feel.  We now realize there is a Neo-Conservative (not conservative) Republican Oligarchy that has entrenched itself deep within the GOP and is dedicated to its own self-interests  at the expense of liberty and we the people. The “Establishment” is indeed real, and it is not only an Oligarchy, it is Authoritarian.   Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee nailed it in this interview:

http://video.foxbusiness.com/v/4783263328001/huckabee-the-establishment-has-ruined-this-country/?intcmp=obnetwork&playlist_id=937116503001#sp=news-clips

That’s just it.  Over the last couple of years we have endured an onslaught of unconstitutional actions that went unchallenged by the representatives we sent to Congress to represent us and they did nothing.  They did nothing because it did not suit their interests, or rather the interests of the donors who control them.  We the people have had enough.  We are tired of being screwed over and branded the enemy.  On August 22, 2013 Judicial Watch released this absolutely stunning press release:

Washington, DC – Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained educational materials from the Department of Defense (DOD) depicting conservative organizations as “hate groups” and advising students to be aware that “many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.” The documents repeatedly cite the leftwing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a resource for identifying “hate groups .  Judicial Watch obtained the documents in a response to a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) filed on April 8, 2013. The FOIA requested “Any and all records concerning, regarding, or related to the preparation and presentation of training materials on hate groups or hate crimes distributed or used by the Air Force.” Included in the 133 pages of lesson plans and PowerPoint slides provided by the Air Force is a January 2013……” one which stated:

In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements.  The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

How chilling is that? Our Department of Defense is now teaching that our Founding Fathers were extremists and members of a hate group!  How is that not treason? They are in effect saying that our Constitution was written by members of a hate group.  Think on that for a moment.  Well I don’t know about you, but in light of the above, focusing on “tone” and “morals” while rats are swarming in the basement seems a bit dense to me, if not outright insane.  I for one am tired of being a naive pawn – no more!  We want this corruption cleaned out and the only way that is going to happen is to send someone to Washington who isn’t dependent upon donors and big money to get elected, someone who isn’t controlled by special interests, and someone who hasn’t spent a lifetime in politics.  The ONLY 2016 GOP candidate who fits that bill is, you guessed it, Donald Trump.  Every other single candidate were and are controlled by one PAC or another. The very best explanation that I have found on the seedy underbelly of Washington corruption aka the GOPe and why you should vote for Donald Trump are some articles over at the Conservative Tree House:

Yes, the Conservative Tree House is a pro-Trump site; however, they do the best job anywhere analyzing and researching what we the people are truly up against.  And its not pretty.  Now look at recent attacks from Mitt Romney (wouldn’t it be nice if he had taken a fraction of this energy he’s used attacking Trump against Obama back in 2012?) or the reaction of the entire GOPe in going after Trump this primary season.  Instead of backing the front runner they have been throwing everything at him except the kitchen sink in an effort to “stop Trump”.  This is quite eye opening.  Its eye opening because it tells me these guys are truly frightened of the idea of a Trump Presidency.  The one thing I truly appreciate Trump for is that he has ripped the conservative masks off many people, both political and in the media, exposing the neo-conservative globalists underneath.  And with the masks now off and the vermin exposed, we can clearly see that they are scared out of their wits, and this explains why this primary has been like no other.  When you attempt to get to the “why” of that fear, you become highly motivated to actually vote for Trump instead of against him! Why?  Because if these guys are pure as the driven snow, there is no reason for this behavior. Their irrational response tells me that there is a great deal of corruption in Washington (which we already knew) and they are fearing the loss of their gravy train.  That’s a plus for the average American voter — cleaning out that gravy train.

Underneath is a caption reading: "I've had just about enough of you ...

In summing up the conclusion of my rant, I want to talk about Trump’s behavior, or lack of morals, or what have you.  I fully agree that there is a great deal in Mr. Trump I don’t necessarily like.  I am 100% convinced that if elected he will do something that will rub me the wrong way.  Its guaranteed to happen.  It will also happen with any of the other candidates, because they have their own skeletons.  With both Cruz and Rubio you get lies and deception.  And not only over the Natural Born issue, some of which  I’ve already mentioned above.  As we’ve seen in this primary Cruz as been caught in horrific campaign election fraud, vote tampering, along with more lies than even Pinnochio could come up with over and over, again and again.  The Bible has a lot to say about lies and deception (none of which is a positive thing) and even says in Proverbs 6 that these things are among God’s list of the 7 sins He hates.  Lying is actually repeated twice in this passage.

So those who think Trump’s sins are egregious but ignore these moral failings in both Cruz and Rubio need to go back to Bible study again.  There is even a story out there reported on USA Politics Today (and also most recently here) referring to extra-marital affairs Rubio had with a Lobbyist named Amber Stoner and another Lobbyist Dana Hudson.  I have no idea how much of this is accurate, but bear in mind there is a ton of smut that has been leveled at Trump that is not accurate as well.  The only reason I bring this up is to illustrate the baggage all of the candidates have.  None of them are perfect.  And if this story on Rubio is even partially true it demonstrates how incredibly dishonest it is to attack Trump supporters for Trump’s past indiscretions yet ignore Rubio’s current indiscretions and say he’s the guy you have to vote for and be a Christian.

And speaking of adultery, I recall John 8:7  whereby Jesus writes in the sand (regarding a woman about to be stoned for adultery) and tells his audience, “ “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” Bear in mind as well, that Scripture gives no criteria that secular political candidates must meet any kind of conditions, sinless, morals or anything.  The only criteria given is for leaders of the Church and we are not voting for a leader in the Church.  I would also remind you that David committed adultery with Bathsheba, and yet God still called him, “A man after God’s own heart”.  I am not excusing adultery, absolutely not, it is a grievous sin.  But what I am saying is that God forgives.  And we are commanded to forgive.  As to voting, it is extremely hypocritical to judge a lack of morals in one candidate, and excuse them in another.  In my Bible adultery is sin, but so is lying and dishonesty.  I don’t think God makes a distinction between them and neither should we.  Sin is sin.  So if you are going to judge Trump’s sins, logic and fairness would dictate that you would also need to judge Rubio and Cruz with the same brush.  And to be perfectly honest?   I’m not seeing that.  What I am seeing is a whole lot of self-righteousness and hypocrisy going around.  And a whole lot of divisiveness in the church centered around this election which definitely does not please Him (see Prov. 6:19; Romans 16:17; Galatians 5:20; Titus 3:9) and that needs to stop among fellow believers.

We are faced with 3 viable remaining candidates.  All of which have tremendous failings.  I have tried to document these.  There are many I haven’t documented in the interests of time and space (for example:  the Ted Cruz connection with 7 Mountains Dominionism and the New Apostolic Reformation).  Look, if there were a truly godly candidate with an impeccable character yet strong on all the above policy issues – I would be backing that candidate in a heartbeat.  But there isn’t.  There are just as many sins and skeletons in Cruz’s and Rubio’s closets as there are in Trump’s.  You don’t like Trump and you are baffled why anyone would vote for him and claim to be a Christian.  Do you not realize due to the moral failings of the other 2 candidates that comes across as an incredibly divisive comment? Why do you focus on Trump’s failings, but ignore the failings and sins of the other candidates?  And I am not the only one who sees this.  Pastor Jeffress also came out against this behavior.    I hope I’ve answered some of those questions in this post and that it is quite possible to not only be a committed Christian and choose Trump over the other 2, but that it would be considered rebelling against God to not vote for him when the other candidates we are left with are not even eligible to be running!  People like me are baffled that anyone would think it pleases God to vote for those who lie and deceive and commit fraud.   The reality is we Trump supporters could in fact question your Christianity by choosing an ineligible candidate in Cruz or Rubio.  You do realize that??  And yet we do not do that.  You won’t see any articles, and facebook likes, and what have you criticizing the Christianity of those who choose Cruz or Rubio.  I wish that were the case as well with my side of the debate.

I have seen comments such as, “But Trump scares me!”  Fair enough.  But let me ask you a question.  What is scary about putting Americans first ahead of foreign interests?  How in the world would that be scary?  I am far more concerned with those who would not put Americans first!  What is scary about building a wall and protecting our borders?  I am far more concerned about those who would not!  Let me tell you that a bunch of nutballs running around chopping people’s heads off is scary to me!  I am scared of the politicians who won’t deal with this evil and seal our borders so we can keep them out! That’s what scares me.  The destruction of our sovereignty is much bigger deal to me also, and not fighting against that is incredibly scary.  So I guess different things scare different people.  We can go around and around on this, but I hope I have explained that a true committed bible believing Christian can indeed support Trump.  My hope is that we could all acknowledge that we believers should be free to choose any candidate that we think is best for the country and not have our character, our integrity, or our convictions questioned and challenged.  Wouldn’t that be nice?
